NEw york born & philly bred, Andy struggles most with being a Philly sports fan as well as a born Yankees fan, due to family tradition. Everything else in life is easy to navigate. Andy came into guitar repair and touring services after years of playing and writing professionally in the Philly music scene, primarily as a member of the funk-collective, Swift Technique, among others.
In 2016, Andy opened Big Sound Guitar Repair in at the Bok Building - a South Philly technical high school that closed in 2013, but reopened with a new purpose and vision. Bok is home to the many of the city's best, serving as a home and commonplace to woodworkers, a tattoo shop, a hair salon, zero-waste clothing brands, and the list goes on.
In 2019, Andy moved on to the other side of the game - teching and tour managing for guitarist Paul Gilbert's international tour, and moving into guitar repair full-time. 2020 put a halt to touring for everyone...but it's only a matter of time.
Re-opening as Braxton Guitars is simply the next step. Growing up on Braxton Road in Rosemont, PA made it seem very appropriate.

"2021 brings us into our fifth year at the shop in South Philly. It was a privilege to navigate the turbulence of 2020. Despite the hardships many of us faced, the time was essential to learn about myself, learn new skills, and improve the way I run the shop. While I wish I was on the road getting after it with the rest of those crazy people like me, the time was invaluable, and forced all of us to remember what's important.
Until we're on the road again, I am looking forward to sharing was 2021 has to offer, and to seeing all of you down at the shop." - Andy
